Science Done Poorly
Submitted by christopher on Fri, 01/21/2011
Those of us who regularly defend science and get pissed at those who don't understand science should beware the pitfalls of _bad_ science. As in, when big pharma is perverting science in the holier name of profits. Mother Jones has an article that hits close to home -- the University of Minnesota's dark side.
Update: I encourage readers to also see my medical "science." post.

so very upsetting! really
so very upsetting! really unsettled by it... and wondering how to prevent more examples in the future...
Upsetting, yes
I'm almost done with a different article that I'll post up here shortly discussing one approach to reform. But really, our medical system is screwed up far beyond just the terrible system of private employer-based insurance. I'm surprised as just how unscientific a lot of medical decisions are.
