seeking knowledge and laughter, putting a bullseye on inaccuracy

Now that is just funny

Wow. You can read the transcript if you want, but you won't get it. This is amazing. I have not seen anything like it. Powerful people are stuck in a room and have to listen to truth. Colbert pokes them. Over and over. Amazing. Shocking.

Colbert at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Everyone looks so uncomfortable. Everyone mostly looks confused.

Onegoodmove has full coverage with a link to the transcript. If you want to watch the whole thing, load up the torrent if you have a BitTorrent client. This is the best option because it does not require centralized bandwidth.

I can't say enough about the power of Colbert's words and how much more I respect him. This is closer to Mark Antony's "Brutus is an honorable man" speech than satire. Brilliant.

This blog post by Molly Priesmeyer captures the importance of this and the reasons why it has largely been ignored in the major press and kept alive by blogs and fringe media sources. Or so I have been told. I continue being crushed by the end-of-the-semester workload so I cannot say from personal observation.

If you need any motivation to actually watch this presentation or read the transcript, check these blurbs out.

On Bush's response to disasters: "I stand by this man because he stands for things. Not only for things, he stands on things. Things like aircraft carriers, and rubble, and recently flooded city squares. And that sends a strong message, that no matter what happens to America, she will always rebound with the most powerfully staged photo ops in the world."

On the press response to the White House shake-up and the metaphor of "rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic": "This administration is soaring, not sinking...If anything, they are re-arranging the deck chairs on the Hindenburg."

For the love of democracy, watch this video! Watch Bush squirm.

Sports Pranks

Need to throw a visiting hotshot basketball player off his game? This is a hilarious prank. You gotta feel bad for that guy though, he thought he was gonna get with a fit honey...

If sports aren't your thang, perhaps you should watch the Flora Bush "Get Out of Iraq (and my bedroom)" music video which you may not find on MTV. I really like the "eMission Accomplished" sign.

Hilarious Video

A hilarious, if profane, video. Worst job ever.
